Dear Father Lyons,
I know Our Mother Mary wants us to bring our prayers to her in times of great distress. That’s why I’m sending my prayer intentions by September 8th, the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to honor Our Lady’s wish on her birthday. Please place my intentions at Mary’s Altar at the Shrine:
Dear Friend in Christ,
It was a time of great national distress in France — following the Revolution of 1830 — when Our Lady appeared to St. Catherine Labouré, revealed her Miraculous Medal, and told St. Catherine, “Come to the foot of the altar. There graces will be shed upon all who ask for them.”
It was a time of great international distress in 1917 — during World War I — when the Blessed Mother appeared at Fatima and told the children Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta to, “Pray the Rosary every day to bring peace to the world.”
When we are at our greatest need, Our Blessed Mother calls us to prayer. She wants us to ask for her help. Please join your Rosary to mine as a lovely gift that will rise to heaven and call down God’s graces on our families and world.
When you send me your prayer intentions, I pray you will also include an urgently-needed financial gift.
If you are blessed with the ability to do so at this time, send your generous, tax-deductible gift right away.
Mary’s Shrine hasn’t been spared from the economic devastation we’re seeing across the nation. Keeping our Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal open to the faithful is difficult in the best of times. I and my fellow Vincentians continue to celebrate Mass and pray for you every day. But it is especially painful in these trying economic times to keep this holy place open.
