Graces Delivered to Those Who Wear Mary’s Miraculous Medal

“We were informed by my husband’s doctor that he had found a significant sized tumor that had been growing for a while and was very likely malignant he stated that he was sending the biopsy sample along with other polyps he had removed to be tested but that the tumor was pretty bad.
“Those who wear it when it is blessed will receive great graces, especially if they wear it about the neck”
As my husband teared up, I told him not to lose hope that God had the final word and that week while we waited I turned to our
Holy Mother with complete confidence in her intercession I purchased a Miraculous Medal as I had remembered reading about the graces that people received so I wore it every day putting my faith in the promise of our Holy Mother. I prayed the Rosary every night, and when I prayed, I asked my faithful Saints; St John Paul II, St Michael the Archangel, and my beloved St Jude to join me in prayer so that God would be in our midst.

I turned it all over to him and put complete faith in the medal our Holy Mother had
provided us with for fortitude of our faith during our battles. Yesterday we went in for the results, and the pathology report came back cancer-free on all of the samples, even though they all were of the type that can become cancer. We still have a couple of surgeries to get through, but we are confident that Our Holy Mother's gifts like the medal, the rosary, and her intercessions will continue to be instrumental in providing Gods grace mercy and peace. Fr. Joseph G. Fitzgerald, CM, named next Provincial of the Eastern Province of the Congregation of the Mission
The Vincentians of the Eastern Province are pleased to announce the election of
Fr. Joseph G. Fitzgerald, CM, as our next Provincial. His term began on June 1, 2026.
A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Fr. Fitzgerald was ordained in 2005. He has had a vast missionary experience in Panama, where he also served as a Superior and, most recently, as the Regional Superior. In 2018, while working with the indigenous Ngäbe-Buglé people
in the central highlands of the Western provinces of Panama, he earned a Doctorate in Theology (PhD and STD) from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellín. The next year, Fr. Fitzgerald helped to organize the first World Encounter for Indigenous Youth in the lead up to World Youth Day in Panama.
Fr. Fitzgerald is known for his kindness, his vision, and his dedication to the poorest of the poor. As he prepares to
assume this important responsibility, the Vincentians ask that you keep him in your prayers, asking God to grant him wisdom, strength, and abundant blessings in his new ministry of leadership.
Sr. Patricia Evanick, Daughters of Charity, joins the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal
Sr. Patricia Evanick, D.C. recently joined the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal to work with young adults in our Beyond Sunday program. She joins us from St. John’s University in Queens, NY, where she served as Campus Minister for Faith Formation and Leadership on campus.
Sr. Evanick recently reflected on how she came to truly know God through caring for others.
“I always felt alive doing service,” she said.
Sr. Evanick was active in service from an early age, especially during her college years at Neumann University in Easton, PA. “That was when I began thinking I was called to this life—through the work.”
Ironically, this Philadelphia, PA, area native was not exposed to the Daughters of Charity during her youth. “I mostly knew the Sisters of St. Joseph of Philadelphia and the Sisters of St.
Francis of Philadelphia,” she noted.
While she loved both orders, she never felt called to them. “I met the Daughters in college, and I was drawn to their simplicity. I knew I could do the work. There was something deep in my heart that said, ‘This is the kind of life you need.’ ”
Sr. Evanick entered the Daughters in 1989. “Since then, I have grown in my faith and in my love for God through my vow of service. When students ask me my story, I tell them I really came to know God through that love of helping others.”
Her first assignments were as a first-grade teacher at the former Holy Rosary School in Brooklyn, NY, and as Director of Religious Education at St. John the Baptist Parish in Brooklyn. From there, she helped establish the St. Vincent de Paul Young Adult Center in Germantown, PA.

Our Lady of Knock: Honoring Irish Heritage
In August 1879, Our Lady appeared with St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist on a gable wall of a Catholic church. The apparition lasted for almost two hours, before 15 witnesses.
In May 2023, The Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal dedicated St. Vincent’s Rosary Walk and the Shrine to Our Lady of Knock, expanding the spiritual experience for members of Mary’s Miraculous Medal Family. The Rosary Walk commemorates the greatest form of Marian prayer, the Rosary.
The centerpiece of the Walk is Our Lady of Knock Shrine, which now proudly honors the Irish community’s vital contributions to Germantown and the many neighborhoods of Philadelphia.
Our Lady of La Leche: Giving Thanks for Family, Fertility, and Life
When Spanish missionaries came to Florida, they built a chapel to Our Lady of the Milk and Good Delivery—the first shrine consecrated to Mary in what would become the United States.
Through the remarkable generosity of Gail Whittenberger, this devotion has found a home at The Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.
The Our Lady of La Leche Shrine is an exquisite portrayal of Our Lady of La Leche, painted by Mary Roth, Gail’s loving daughter-in-law. Her dedication to Our Lady of the Milk celebrates the gift of her own children and grandchildren and was created in thanksgiving for answered prayers for family, fertility, and life.
Our Lady of Guadalupe: A Timeless Miracle of Faith
In 1531, Our Lady appeared to Juan Diego, a recent convert to the Catholic faith. As a sign of her apparition, Our Lady asked Juan to gather roses from the hillside and bring them to her.
It was an interesting request. The month was December, so the hill would normally be bare. But Juan found it covered with Castilian roses, which are not native to Mexico. He gathered them in his tilma (his cloak) and brought them to Mary. She rearranged them and told him to bring them to the bishop as proof that she was requesting a church be built on that spot.
He kept the roses within his cloak just as Mary had positioned them and, to his amazement, when he opened his tilma and the roses dropped to the floor, a life-size image of the Blessed Mother was on his cloak. That image is still intact, 490 years later.
You can see an original oil painting of this image by Jose Gerardo Rico and commissioned by the Hispanic and Latino community, when you come to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in The Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. This shrine also includes a wall of roses, which bear the names of loved ones engraved on 5”, 4”, and 3” plaques. Plaques can be purchased through our gift shop.
